  • INSTITUTO DA CRIANÇA CARRIES OUT A BAZAAR, A SPECIAL EDITION FOR MOTHER’S DAY

    On May 7th and 8th of 2008 (Wednesday and Thursday), the 8th edition of “Atelier Carioca” will be released, a bazaar that brings brands and artisans from Rio de Janeiro for the Instituto da Criança, a non-profit NGO that supports projects in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

    In this mother’s day special edition, the “Atelier Carioca” will have special treat: Celebrity clothes collected by the actress Juliana Paes, who already carried out a bazaar benefiting the IC last December.

    The bazaar will happen in the “Sociedade Hipica Brasileira” (a horseback riding club), which is located in a spacious and sophisticated place, and will count on the attendance of current brands with special prices.

    It will be a great opportunity to buy a Mother’s Day gift and there will also be products for men, children and adolescents. Furthermore, there will be handicraft and objects for house decoration. Twenty percent of the sales, will be given to the IC, which has eight other projects in Rio de Janeiro.   • FEIJOADA “HORA DA LEITURA” (TIME TO READ)

    On Saturday, June 21st in the Hotel Rio Othon Palace, the Instituto da Criança is going to throw a “feijoada”, a typical Brazilian food fest, for the introduction of the project “Hora da Leitura”.

    This project, which counts on private support, has as an objective to encourage reading in disadvantaged communities through the extra-curricular programs for students from elementary school. Also, it wants to open libraries for the community, “Biblioteca do Bairro”, which means “the neighborhood’s library”.

    “Hora da Leitura” was inspired on Dr. José Mindlin, a entrepreneur, book lover, and always remembered in the ABL. Dr. Mindlin, a great reading promoter, said that “it is not enough to alphabetize, it is necessary to teach how to read”

    There will be a place for book collecting in the entrance of the event.

  • INSTITUTO DA CRIANÇA PROMOTES A CONTEST IN CASA COR

    From August 30th until October 4th, in the children space of Casa Cor, decorated by Oba Arquitetura, the Instituto da Criança is going to promote two contests. One will be aimed for the children and another for the adults. The objective of this event is to promote to the public the Instituto da Criança, which during these days will emphasize that everyone had the possibility of contributing in the process of social transformation.

    The theme of the event will be “Por um mundo melhor” or “For a Better World”. Children up to twelve years-old will be able to participate by drawing designs that illustrate the theme. The three most creative drawings will receive several presents. The contest for adults from eighteen years-old and on has the theme of “My Favorite Children’s Book”. To participate, enter the Instituto da Criança website (www.institutodacrianca.org.br), click on contact, and write a sentence of up to 600 characters about the following question: Which was the children book that influenced you the most? Why? The author of the best sentence will win two nights at the Villa Rasa Marina hotel in Buzios.

    The results will be announced on October 4th at the children space in Casa Cor.

    The IC is collecting children’s books at the place.

  • NIGHT DO BEM –“A NIGHT OF GOOD DEEDS”

    On December 16-21 (except on the 19th of December), the clubbers of the nightclub Baronetti, apart from having fun, they will be doing something good. From every entrance sold, the nightclub will donate R $10 for the Instituto da Criança. This ONG helps houses for people with deficiencies and low-income communities in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
